PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and composition of medications used to treat inflammatory bowel disease.SOLUTION: The invention further provides administration of a combination of anti-atypical mycobacterial agents effective against atypical mycobacteria, preferably, rifabutin, clarithromycin and clofazimine, and at least one 5-amino salicylic acid compound or 4-amino salicylic acid compound.
