A unilateral chewing monitoring device and a monitoring method, wherein the unilateral chewing monitoring device comprises a first module for detecting a plurality of left potential difference signals generated by chewing during the time period and a second module for detecting a plurality of right potential difference signals generated by the chewing during the time period, and a processing module for obtaining the left potential difference signals and deriving a left potential difference signal average amplitude value, and for obtaining the right potential difference signals and deriving a right potential difference signal average amplitude value. The processing module determines whether it’s unilateral chewing according to the average amplitude value of the left potential difference signal and the average amplitude value of the right potential difference signal.
