PURPOSE: An antimicrobial suture and a method of manufacturing the same are provided, which allow an excellent infection inhibition effect to a desired level. CONSTITUTION: A method of manufacturing an antimicrobial suture includes: a process of manufacturing a biguanide solution in which a biguanide antimicrobial agent is melted in a solvent； a process of manufacturing a macromolecular solution in which the film formation polymer and fatty acid and its salt or its ester salt are melted in the other solvent； a process of manufacturing a coating solution by mixing the biguanide solution and macromolecular solution； a process of applying the coating solution on the suture surface； and a process of drying the coated suture. 본 발명은 바이구아나이드(biguanide) 항균제； 생분해성 필름 형성 고분자； 및 지방산, 그것의 염 또는 그것의 에스테르염을 포함하는 코팅 물질로 구성된 코팅층을 포함하는 봉합사 및 그것의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 봉합사는 생분해성 필름 형성 고분자, 및 지방산, 그것의 염 또는 그것의 에스테르염을 포함함으로써, 바이구아나이드 항균제가 우수한 항균성을 나타내기에 적절한 농도로 방출되도록 하는 바, 이를 통해 세균, 박테리아, 바이러스의 증식을 충분히 억제하여 봉합 부위의 접합을 촉진시키며, 우수한 지혈 작용을 나타낼 수 있다.
