PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technical material holding plier that can obtain high holding power by small gripping force even to a technical material inferior to strength such as ceramics products.SOLUTION: A technical material holding plier is formed of a clamping part 6 that is opened and closed by contact operation at the tip side of a pivot 2 and clamps a technical material between facing surfaces 5, by a pair of plier bodies 1 being connected using the pivot 2 in an intermediate portion of the longitudinal direction in a freely turning manner. A circular or ellipse-shaped edge comes into abutment with a rich surface of the technical material on the facing surface 5 of at least one clamping part 6, and a hole part 7 is formed which is not brought into contact with a top of the rich surface.
