PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which can quickly absorb a body fluid even when projecting parts on a surface sheet overlap each other as the absorbent article is twisted when being worn, thereby preventing leakage of the body fluid and improving dry feeling.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 10 includes a surface sheet 2 having an upper layer sheet 1 of an irregular structure in which projecting parts 13 and recessed parts 14 extending in a longitudinal direction are arranged alternately in a lateral direction. In the upper layer sheet 1, fiber density of a side part region 13c is lower than those of a top part region 13a and a bottom part region 13b in a cross section view. The surface sheet 2 is joined with a lower layer sheet 21 through joining parts 14s by the recessed parts 14 of the upper layer sheet 1, and has a hollow structure between the projecting parts 13 and a lower layer sheet 21. An absorber 4 has a slit 43 in an excretion part facing part B.
