PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive novel candy composition excellent in flavor, prevented from rough feeling in the oral cavity to have smooth improved palate feeling in the oral cavity, and suppressing sweet-bitter taste of the xylitol in the oral cavity for a long time (for about 5-10 min) while making good use of cool feeling of the xylitol: and to provide novel candy using the composition.
SOLUTION: The novel candy composition is obtained by mixing edible organic acid of 1.5-15 mass% based on a blending quantity of the xylitol in the whole of the composition into xylitol containing at least one selected from monosaccharide, disaccharide or sugar alcohol other than xylitol obtained by reducing the monosaccharide or the disaccharide. The novel candy using the composition is obtained by setting the sweet-bitter taste suppressing part 2 of the xylitol comprising the novel candy composition in parallel with a well-known candy part 3 without being mixed into the well-known candy part 3.
