A port, such as a port catheter or a female luer fitting port, can be configured to include an antimicrobial septum for disinfecting a device attached to the port. An antimicrobial septum may be positioned within the lumen of the port. The lumen may include an annular recess for securing the antimicrobial septum in place during use. The antibacterial septum may include an antibacterial lubricant that moves to the device when a device such as a male luer passes the septum and kills any bacteria that may be present on the surface of the device.
