The present application related to a catheter device having a side port (203) in which is contained an actuator(210), the actuator being configured to compress a tubing of the catheter device inwardly when a separated device is inserted into the side port, thereby opening a flowpath from the side port to the inner lumen of the catheter device. In some instances, the side port actuator further comprises an antimicrobial agent or is formed from an antimicrobial material whereby the actuator prevents antimicrobial growth or colonization within fluid that remains in the side port following use thereof.La presente invención se refiere a un dispositivo de catéter que tiene un orificio lateral en el cual está contenido un accionador, el accionador que se configura para comprimir un entubado del dispositivo de catéter hacia dentro cuando se inserta un dispositivo separado en el orificio lateral, abriendo de esta forma una ruta de flujo del orificio lateral a la abertura interior del dispositivo de catéter. En algunos casos, el accionador de orificio lateral comprende además un agente antimicrobiano o se forma a partir de un material antimicrobiano por lo cual el accionador impide crecimiento o colonización antimicrobiana dentro del fluido que permanece en el orificio lateral después del uso del mismo.
