PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oral composition comprising an effective amount of an analgesic to treat a subject, including reducing or eliminating an adverse effect associated with the analgesic.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a bi-layer tablet composition comprises an immediate-release layer and a controlled-release layer, comprising (1) effective amounts of (a) an opioid analgesic such as hydrocodone, (b) a stimulant such as modafinil or caffeine, (c) an antiemetic such as promethazine, and (2) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or vehicle.
