To provide a method for determining a user's posture and a method for measuring an activity amount, using a smartphone.SOLUTION: A posture discrimination method includes: a step of measuring an inclination and acceleration of a smartphone using a gyro sensor and acceleration sensor included by the smartphone for each predetermined period of time； and a step of determining which of walking, standing position, sitting position, and undeterminable postures a user is in, on the basis of the inclination and acceleration measured every time measurement is performed a predetermined number of times.
