PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent promoting the production of collagen, by using an easily available raw material having excellent biocompatibility, and to provide a cosmetic and a method for producing the collagen by using such the agent.SOLUTION: The agent for promoting the production of the collagen contains a polyphosphoric acid, a salt thereof or a solvate thereof as an active ingredient. The cosmetic contains the agent.
