PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain coated zinc oxide powder having good efficiency in a process for coating the surface of the zinc oxide powder, stable without fear of gelation and increase of viscosity of a cosmetic added with the zinc oxide powder when added to the cosmetic caused by generation of hydrogen and uncoated surface and capable of giving the cosmetic improved in excellent persistence in sebum resistance which the zinc oxide powder itself has, provide a method for producing the same and obtain the cosmetic added with the same.SOLUTION: The coated zinc oxide powder is obtained by coating the zinc oxide (A) having 15-100 m2/g specific surface area with a methylhydrogensiloxane-dimethylsiloxane copolymer (B) expressed by formula (1) (wherein m and n are each a positive number and satisfy the following requirements m:n=4.0-1.5:1 m+n=4-60).
