Disclosed is a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition comprising: i) an acidic polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 2 or a sequence which is at least 70% identical to the sequence, or a functional portion of any of the sequence, wherein the portion comprises at least 30 amino acids； (ii) an acidic polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 3 or a sequence which is at least 70% identical to the sequence, or a functional portion of any of the sequence, wherein the portion comprises at least 30 amino acids； (iii) an acidic polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 4 or a sequence which is at least 70% identical to the sequence, or a functional portion of any of the sequence, wherein the portion comprises at least 30 amino acids； and/or (iv) one or more nucleic acid molecules encoding a polypeptide as set forth in any of (i) to (iii) above or a complementary sequence thereof, and one or more pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable excipients and/or diluents； wherein the sequences are as defined in the specification. Also disclosed is the use of the polypeptides to treat a condition or disorder of the skin of a non-human animal wherein the skin is abnormally dry, the horny layer of the skin is abnormally thickened or the skin has a pigmentation disorder.
