PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a surface of an object, not only capable of imparting an antibacterial property to an object surface but also capable of removing the antibacterial property that has been imparted as well as imparting the antibacterial property again after the removal thereof.SOLUTION: The method includes a step of binding inorganic particles (silica particles 2 that expose silanol groups 3) to an object surface 1, a step of binding a protein with an antibacterial property (protamine) or basic peptides derived from the protein to the inorganic particles, and a step of turning the object surface 1 into an acidic environment with an acid solution 5 and removing the protein or basic peptides from the inorganic particles.
