Beschrieben wird die Verwendung von 2,4-Dimethyl-propiophenon als Riechstoff, vorzugsweise als Riechstoff zum Vermitteln, Modifizieren und/oder Verstärken einer, zwei, drei oder sämtlicher der Geruchsnoten blumig, rosig, rosenoxidartig und herbalartig, vorzugsweise beider der Geruchsnoten rosenoxidartig und herbalartig.Beansprucht werden auch Zusammensetzungen enthaltend 2,4-Dimethylpropiophenon.Use of 2,4-dimethyl-propiophenone (I) as perfume, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) a perfume composition comprising (I) and one or more further perfume materials, where the weight ratio of the total amount of (I) to the total amount of further perfume materials is 1:1000 to 1:0.5, preferably 1:500-1:10 (2) a perfumed article comprising the perfume composition, where the article is perfume-extracts, eau de perfume, eau de toilette, after-shave agent, eau de colognes, pre-shave-product, splash-colognes, perfumed refreshing tissue, perfumes for acid, alkaline and neutral cleaning agent, washing agent, washing tablets, disinfection agent, deodorizer, aerosol spray, wax and polish, body care agent, bath oils, cosmetic emulsions, hair care products, deodorants and antiperspirants, products of the decorative cosmetics and of candles, lamp oils, incense stick, insecticide, repellent and propellant and (3) a procedure for producing the perfume composition, comprising mixing (I) with the further perfume material and optionally further components of the perfume composition.
