PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating vegetable in which when vegetable is grown, generation and proliferation of moss, algae, weeds or the like to a culture medium surface for cultivation can be inhibited, and diseases and generation of insect pests can be inhibited, water and fertilizers are easy to permeate into the culture medium, and moreover vegetable can be grown healthfully. SOLUTION: The vegetable is grown by the culture medium for cultivation covered with a carbonized material of vegetable origin of pH 7-9. Chaff smoked charcoal is preferably used as a carbonized material of vegetable origin. Thereby, the generation and proliferation of moss, algae, weeds or the like to the culture medium surface for cultivation can be inhibited, the diseases and generation of insect pests can be inhibited, and the vegetable can be grown healthfully.
