A first portion (110) of the flying pest trap (100) is adapted to be mounted to a wall and a second portion (120) of the flying pest trap (100) is operable to extend away from the first portion (110) and is adapted to retain at least a portion of the immobilisation element (155). Accordingly, the likelihood of flying pests being captured by the trap (100) is increased due to the relatively horizontal configuration of the portion of the immobilisation element (155) retained in the second portion (120).
