A flying pest trap 30 comprises an attraction section 38, an immobilisation section 34, a body section 32 adapted to retain the attraction section 38 and the immobilisation section 34, and a power section 42 adapted to provide power to the attraction section 38. The power section 42 is switchable to vary an output level of the attraction section 38 between high and low levels. The intensity may be varied by lighting only a subset of lights 40, which may emit UV. The device may utilize a glueboard 36 as an immobilisation section.
