The shell assembly (20) includes an annular knife (42) having an inner surface (56a) and an outer surface (56b) and first and second angled surfaces (58a, 58b) defining a blade edge (60). The first angled surface (58a) defines an angle S1 with a longitudinal axis of the stapling device (10) and the second angled surface (58b) defines an angle S2 with the longitudinal axis of the stapling device (10).
