PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method wherewith bricks are laid simply, and also to provide a spacer joint member to be used in such a method. SOLUTION: In the present brick laying method, a plurality of bricks are laid with planate spacers 1 each made up by fixing joint parts at a right angle to both sides of a sheetlike spacer part and header face spacers 2 both of which are made of soft synthetic resin used. In this case, the bricks in a plural number are laid side by side with their headers butted against one another, and the header face spacer 2 is fitted into each of spaces between butting faces of the headers so that its spacer part 2a is put in the space while its joint parts 2b and 2c are exposed at the outside of the brick. Then, the planate spacer 1 is fitted onto the upside of the bricks laid side by side with the header face spacers 2 fitted in the spaces so that its spacer part 1a is mounted on the planate surfaces of the bricks while its joint parts 1b and 1c are exposed to the outside.
