Device for harvesting of asparagus in soil surface area, has probes attached into soil environment of asparagus to determine position of asparagus below surface area by sending electromagnetic or acoustic waves
The device (30) has a sensor (31) for determining a position of asparagus (12) at a soil surface area. Probes e.g. current conductors (33, 34) such as metallic rods, are attached into a soil environment of the asparagus to determine position of the asparagus below the surface area by sending electromagnetic or acoustic waves. The probes contact the asparagus, and a tool e.g. cutting - and thrust device (36) is controlled based on position of the asparagus at the surface area and below the surface area. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic harvesting of asparagus.
