Disclosed in the present invention are a spirostenol derivative, a bone formation induction and/or osteoblast differentiation promoting composition containing the spirostenol derivative as an active component, an osteoblast differentiation inducing biomaterial, a pharmaceutical composition treating and/or preventing a bone metabolic disease, and a food engineering composition and/or a health functional food for improving functions of osteoblast. The derivative of the present invention has almost no cytotoxicity, induces formation of osteoblast while not having reduction of activity for such as UV to be injected in a living body, and forms a composite with a material having an osteo-conduction function to be expected to be applied in medical instruments, etc.본 발명에서는 스피로스테놀 유도체와, 이 스피로스테놀 유도체를 유효 성분으로 함유하는 골형성 유도 및/또는 조골세포 분화 촉진용 조성물, 이 조성물을 포함하는 골 분화 유도성 생체 재료, 골 대사 이상 질환을 치료 및/또는 예방하는 약학적 조성물 및 조골세포의 기능을 개선하기 위한 식품공학적 조성물 및/또는 건강기능식품을 제안한다. 본 발명의 유도체는 세포 독성이 거의 없으며, UV 등에 대해서도 활성이 저하되지 않으면서 조골세포의 형성을 유도하여, 생체 내에 투여될 수 있으며, 골-전도 성능이 있는 물질과 복합체를 형성하여 의료 기기 등에 응용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
