A surgical portal apparatus for receiving medical instrumentation includes a portal member adapted for passage through tissue for providing access to an underlying tissue site, and having a longitudinal opening extending therethrough. The portal member has a magnetic material for creating a magnetic field adapted to urge magnetically responsive instrumentation at least toward the longitudinal opening to permit passage therethrough and use of the instrumentation in performing a medical procedure adjacent the tissue site.Cette invention concerne un appareil à porte chirurgicale pour recevoir un instrument médical, lequel appareil comprend un élément porte conçu pour traverser un tissu afin daccéder à un site tissulaire sous-jacent, lequel élément présente une ouverture longitudinale qui sétend sur toute sa longueur. Lélément porte est pourvu dun matériau magnétique afin de créer un champ magnétique qui permet dattirer un instrument sensible aux champs magnétiques au moins en partie vers louverture longitudinale de manière à permettre le passage à travers cette ouverture et lutilisation de cet instrument pour exécuter un acte médical à proximité du site tissulaire.
