The oxygenator includes a housing having a blood inlet and a blood outlet, the blood inlet extending into the inner portion of the housing. The heat exchanger is located within the housing and is coupled to the heat exchange fluid inlet at the inlet end. The gas exchanger is also located within the housing and includes a bundle of gas exchange fibers coupled to the gas exchange fluid outlet at the gas outlet end. The oxygenator includes at least one insulator configured to thermally insulate at least the gas outlet end of the bundle of gas exchange fibers.
