Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for preventing drowsy driving using multi-sensory stimulation. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for preventing drowsy driving comprises: a drowsy driving detection unit detecting a driver′s state； a drowsy driving recognition algorithm determining whether a driver drives while drowsy based on the driver′s state； an awakening device for stimulating at least one of visual, olfactory and tactile sensation when determining that the driver drives while drowsy； and an awakening device control unit controlling the awakening device to be operated.다중감각자극을 이용한 졸음운전 방지 장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 졸음운전 방지 장치는, 운전자의 상태를 감지하는 졸음운전 감지부, 상기 운전자의 상태에 기초하여 상기 운전자의 졸음운전 여부를 판단하는 졸음운전 인식 알고리즘, 상기 운전자가 졸음운전 하는 것으로 판단되는 경우, 상기 운전자의 시각적, 후각적 및 촉각적 감각 중 적어도 하나를 자극하는 각성유발장치 및 상기 각성유발장치가 작동하도록 제어하는 각성유발장치 제어부를 포함한다.
