The medication is dissolved in non-saline water. It includes an active principle associated with an additive, e.g. a dendrimer, a polymer, a nanoparticle, a microsphere, a liposome or an emulsion. An ocular iontophoresis device (1) for delivering a medication, comprises a medication reservoir (20) suitable for being positioned on an eye medication(s) (30) in solution in the reservoir an active electrode (10) disposed in the reservoir and a passive electrode (40). The medication is dissolved in non-saline water. The solution has a pH of 6.5-8.5. The medication includes an active principle associated with an additive, e.g. a dendrimer, a polymer, a nanoparticle, a microsphere, a liposome, or an emulsion. It has a pKa of 5.5-9.5, and an ionic form of valency of >=1.
