A method of cosmetic treatment of complex targets with a combination of RF energy and optical energy. The method comprises irradiating a complex target with a combination of RF energy and optical energy, and heating by the RF energy and optical energy applied simultaneously both the contrasted and un-contrasted components of the complex target to a temperature that destroys both components of the target without raising the surrounding skin temperature to damaging temperatures. The method may be used for treating complex targets in the skin.
