PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica-based particle which has a spherical particle shape, substantially no cavity inside of the particle and porous or nonporous inside, or a silica-based particle which has a porous or nonporous outer shell, a cavity inside of the outer shell, further a manufacturing method of the silica-based particle which has the nonporous outer shell and the cavity inside of the outer shell and negative pressure inside, a cosmetic, a resin composition and a heat insulation material blending the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method including following processes (a) to (c). (a) a process of preparing a silica-based particle precursor particle by spraying and drying a silicate alkali solution into a hot air flow. (b) a process of immersing the silica-based particle precursor particle into an acid solution to remove alkali.
