This invention relates to a mutant trichosanthin (MTCS) protein and a process for preparing the same. The product of the present invention is largely reduced of antigenicity compared to native trichosanthin (TCS), while retaining the biological activities of native TCS, e.g., anti-tumor, anti-virus, abortifacient, and ribosome-inactivating protein activities. The MTCS according to the present invention is useful as a therapeutic agent of high potency and low toxicity for the treatment of cancer, AIDS, ectopic pregnancy and for inducing mid-term abortion, etc. Low antigenicity allows safe multiple injections of MTCS.La présente invention concerne une protéine de trichosantine mutante et un procédé de préparation dune telle protéine. Le produit de la présente invention présente une antigénicité nettement réduite par rapport à la trichosantine native, tout en préservant les activités biologiques de la trichosantine native, par exemple, les activités protéiques antitumorales, antivirales, contragestives et dinactivation ribosomique. La trichosantine mutante selon linvention est utile en tant quagent thérapeutique à haute activité et faible toxicité pour le traitement du cancer, du SIDA, la grossesse ectopique et pour induire lavortement à moyen terme et ainsi de suite. Le faible pouvoir antigénique permet plusieurs injections de la trichosantine mutante en toute sécurité.
