Claimed is the use of semi-chemical volatile products and a method for applying the same in the control of plagues causing premature hatching of hibernating larvae and the possible death thereof by starvation. This mixture and method have been successfully applied for causing the premature hatching of the screwworm or Acrobasis nuxvorella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in Western and Wichita walnut trees (Carya illinoiensis). These volatiles have been successfully applied in walnut trees. The purpose of the invention is to provide an ecological method for controlling plagues such as screwworm in nuts, thus reducing or avoiding the use of pesticides.Se reivindica aquí el uso de semioquímicos volátiles y método de aplicación para el control de plagas mediante la eclosión prematura de la larva hibernante y su posible muerte por inanición. Esta mezcla y método se ha aplicado exitosamente para provocar la eclosión prematura del gusano barrenador o Acrobasis nuxvorella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) en los nogales (Carya illinoiensis) de la variedades Western y Wichita.
