PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic optometer which performs visual acuity test (optometry) by presenting an optometry target to the eye of a subject, while enabling efficient retest.SOLUTION: The automatic optometer is equipped with: a target presentation means for presenting a target a target presentation control means for controlling the target to be presented a response means for inputting a result of the subject reading the presentation target and a visual acuity determination means for determining whether the result is correct or not to determine the visual acuity. The automatic optometer includes: a target selection means for allowing a testing person to select the target and a test mode setting means for selecting an automatic test mode for automatically selecting the target for the test or a manual test mode for selecting the target by the target selection means. The target presentation control means determines whether the retest is required or not on the basis of a final test result obtained in the automatic test mode and determination reference set in the manual test mode, and presents predetermined information when the retest is required.
