A system (100) and a method (200) for blood group detection are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a frame (5), a dropping unit (10), a first pair of motors (15A, 15B), a sliding unit (20), a second pair of motors (25A, 25B), at least two drivers (30), an imaging device (40), a computer device (50), a processor (60), a database, a power source (70) and a display unit (80). The system (100) and the method (200) are a combination of a slide test and a simulation technique for determining blood group types in patients in a real time automated manner with complete elimination of human errors. The system (100) and the method (200) deliver results in a short interval of time for being used in hospitals, in military camps, in blood donation camps, in pathology labs even in emergency situations and hence are commercially usable.
