PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for stabilizing spinous processes of the spine. An interspinous device comprises a first plate, a second plate, and a transverse member between the first and second plates, the second plate being a transverse member. On the other hand, it is adjustedly combined. The post is coupled to the lateral member and a spring mechanism is disposed between the post and the first plate. The spring mechanism is configured to exert a preloaded compressive force on the first and second plates. Also disclosed is a method of implanting an interspinous device using an inserter.
