The present invention pertains to a dentifrice that breaks down inside the oral cavity when a load is applied, has a good granular feel without feeling foreign, penetrates to fine recesses having a width of no more than 150 µm such as tooth perikymata, mesiolabial grooves, central ridges, and distolabial surface grooves, and has distributed therein grains that are capable of exhibiting high plaque- and stain-removal capabilities. The dentifrice comprises distributed therein grains containing a water-insoluble powder material (A) and an inorganic binder (B). In the grains that are present in the dentifrice after distribution, the average value for the ratio (SA/SS) between the area (SA) of a projection surface of the grains and the area (SS) of a circumscribed circle having the maximum longest diameter (DL) in the projection surface as the diameter thereof is 0.5-0.9. The collapse strength of the grains after distribution is 1-20 gf/granule.
