PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating seed on surface of which a coating agent is formed by coating, which has surface hardness preferable for mechanical seeding, and has excellent disintegration in fluid after being seeded.SOLUTION: The coating seed uses bentonite having a specific grain size as a coating material, and forms 0.1-5 mm of the coating layer on the seed surface. Specifically, the distribution of the grain diameter of &ge；1 &mu；m and <；10 &mu；m accounts for 20-30%, the distribution of the grain size of &ge；10 &mu；m and <；50 &mu；m accounts for 60-70%, the distribution of &ge；50 &mu；m and <；100 &mu；m accounts for 0-20%.【課題】種子表面にコーティング剤が被覆形成されているコーティング種子において、機械播種に好適な表面硬度を有し、かつ、播種後水分によって良好な崩壊性を有するコーティング種子を提供すること。【解決手段】コーティング材として、特定の粒度を有するベントナイトを用い、種子表面に０．１ｍｍ～５ｍｍのコーティング層を形成する。具体的には、１μｍ以上１０μｍの粒径の分布が２０％～３０％、１０μｍ以上５０μｍ未満の粒径分布が６０～７０％、５０μｍ以上１００μｍ未満の分布が０％～２０％であることを特徴とするコーティング種子を用いる。【選択図】なし
