The use of melanin, its derivatives, analogs, and precursors for the treatment and prevention of ocular diseases, diseases and conditions is described. Melanin, or derivatives, analogs or precursors thereof, such as synthetic melanin or natural melanin, are applied to the eye by topical application or injection.
