The present invention relates to a novel compound, and more specifically, to a novel compound isolated from Petasites japonicus and an isolation method thereof. The novel compound of the present invention is a useful natural material isolated from Petasites japonicus. When the novel compound is isolated from Petasites japonicus using the isolation method of the present invention, high purity isolation obtaining a material with a purity of 98% or greater is possible and accordingly high productivity is secured, thereby being expected to have the possibility of industrial utilization.본 발명은 신규 화합물에 관한 것으로서, 보다 구체적으로는 머위로부터 분리한 신규 화합물 및 이의 분리방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 신규 화합물은 머위로부터 분리된 천연물질 소재로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있으며, 본 발명의 분리방법을 이용하여 머위로부터 신규 화합물을 분리하는 경우 물질의 순도가 98% 이상의 고순도 분리가 가능함으로써 높은 생산성으로 얻을 수 있다는 점에서 산업적 이용 가능성이 기대된다.
