The invention illustrates and describes a shoe for horses, in particular for racehorses when taking part in competitions. The invention makes provision for the horseshoe to be produced from thermoplastic polymer material and/or from fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polymer material. The thermoplastic polymer material is advantageously selected from the group of thermoplastic polycarbonates and/or fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polycarbonates. In one variant, the horseshoe is constructed from a core of fibre-reinforced plastic material, which is sheathed in a functional layer made of plastic. Provision is preferably made for the core to be formed substantially from a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polymer material (i.e. a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic) and for the functional layer to be formed substantially from a thermoplastic polycarbonate material or a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polycarbonate material (i.e. a thermoplastic or a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic).
