PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture detection device which takes the form of a covering to be applied to a patient's skin, and a device for monitoring a vascular access, in particular a vascular access in a blood treatment apparatus.SOLUTION: A covering 30 has a flexible substrate material to which an electrically conductive structure 32 having printed conductors 33, 34 is applied as a moisture sensor. A moisture detection device 40 is characterized in that the electrically conductive structure has the two printed conductors, one end of the first printed conductor and one end of the second printed conductor have a first pair of connecting contacts 35A, 35G, and the other end of the first printed conductor and the other end of the second printed conductor have a second pair of connecting contacts 35C, 35E. The first pair of connecting contacts serves to connect to a device for monitoring a vascular access, and the second pair of connecting contacts serves to connect to a terminating resistor.
