The invention relates to an avocado extract rich in polyphenols, containing at least 10% by weight of polyphenols, expressed in gallic acid equivalent relative to the dry extract obtained, said polyphenols contain procyanidines, caffeic acid and caffeic acid derivatives, typically in a proportion of at least 70%, by weight expressed as gallic acid equivalent relative to the total content by weight of polyphenols. The invention also relates to a composition comprising as active an extract according to the invention and a suitable excipient. The invention also relates to such a composition or such an extract for use in the prevention or treatment of disorders or pathologies of the skin, mucous membranes or integuments. The invention finally relates to a method of cosmetic care of the skin, superficial body growths or mucous membranes, with a view to improving their state or their appearance, of administering such a composition or such an extract.L'invention se rapporte à un extrait d'avocat riche en polyphénols, contenant au moins 10% en poids de polyphénols, exprimé en équivalent d'acide gallique par rapport à l'extrait sec obtenu,lesdits polyphénols contiennent des procyanidines, de l'acide caféique et des dérivés de l'acide caféique, typiquement dans une proportion d'au moins 70%, en poids exprimée en équivalent d'acide gallique par rapport à la teneur en poids totale de polyphénols.
