An insertion tool includes at the distal end a static pin configured to be disposed within the hole of the lacrimal gland graft and an inserter tip including a mechanical coupling for receiving the handle at the proximal end of the inserter tip A handle at the distal end of the handle and a handle coupled to a plunger at the proximal end of the handle, the plunger being configured to release the insert tip from the handle. The static pin of the inserter tip is removed from the lacrimal gland graft without mechanical force from the insertion tool after placement in the lacrimal tubule.
