An injection assist device for automatically injecting a medicament into a subject once the device has been triggered. The device includes a medicament chamber and a plunger for injecting medicament from the medicament chamber through a needle, a retaining mechanism for securing the plunger against movement in a distal direction when the device is in an armed configuration, and an activator that slidingly and rotationally displaces the retaining mechanism when the device is triggered to allow distal movement of the plunger to inject the medicament from the medicament chamber through the needle. Methods of administering an injection using the device are provided.Linvention concerne un dispositif dassistance à linjection qui permet dinjecter automatiquement un médicament à un patient une fois le dispositif enclenché. Ledit dispositif comporte un réservoir à médicament et un piston permettant dinjecter le médicament à partir du réservoir à médicament par le biais dune aiguille, un mécanisme de retenue qui assure le piston contre un mouvement dans une direction distale lorsque le dispositif se trouve dans une configuration armée, et un activateur qui déplace coulissant et en rotation le mécanisme de retenue lorsque le dispositif est amorcé pour permettre le mouvement distale du piston en vue de linjection du médicament à partir du réservoir à médicament par le biais de laiguille. Linvention concerne également des procédés dadministration dune injection au moyen dudit dispositif.
