PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing device, a method, and a program detecting a candidate of pleural plaque with favorable precision by enlarging a range where image diagnosis is possible for detecting the candidate of pleura plaque while reducing the burden of dosage of a contrast medium on the patient.SOLUTION: A medical image representing an object is obtained, a lung field area is extracted from the obtained medical image, and the outline of the extracted lung field is compared with a reference outline as a result of a dynamic outline having an initial shape in the lung field area, repeating deformation in accordance with prescribed tendency of deformation, and converging after repeating the deformation to detect a recessed area in the lung field.
