The present invention relates to a method of extracting natural pigments by using Schizandra chinensis, the natural pigments separated by the method, and a composition comprising the natural pigments. Specifically, a hot water extract of Schizandra chinensis is extracted at 60C for 1 hour, shows low toxicity on skin cells, and shows anti-inflammatory activity and anti-obesity activity as well as excellent antibacterial activities to skin flora. Accordingly, the hot water extract of Schizandra chinensis of the present invention, and the natural pigments separated therefrom may be used in a dye for fabric dyeing, a cosmetic composition, health functional food, a hair dyeing agent, and a paint composition for building materials. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: i) mixing ground Schizandra chinensis with water to hot water extract the mixture at 50 to 70C for 30 minutes to 3 hours； and ii) separating the natural pigments from a hot water extract obtained by hot water extracting the mixture in the step i).본 발명은 오미자를 이용한 천연 색소의 추출 방법, 이로부터 분리된 천연 색소 및 상기 천연 색소를 포함하는 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 구체적으로 본 발명의 오미자 열수 추출물은 60℃에서 1 시간 동안 추출된 것이며, 피부 세포에 대하여는 낮은 독성을 나타내고, 피부 상재균에 대하여는 우수한 항균 활성을 나타낼 뿐 아니라 항염 활성 및 항비만 활성을 나타내어, 본 발명의 오미자 열수 추출물 및 이로부터 분리된 천연 색소는 직물 염색을 위한 염료, 화장료 조성물, 건강기능식품, 모발 염색제 및 건축재의 도료 조성물에 사용할 수 있다.
