The device that controls intraoperative limb rotation during shoulder surgery is 1) part of a durable device that allows the limb to be suspended from the system and traction weights applied. An interface between a mechanism and 2) a durable non-sterile device and a disposable sterilization drape in contact with the patient, wherein the cable or other connecting member is configured not to rotate about its axis. And a sterile drape that is fixed to the patient's arm during surgery. One of the sterile connector and the disposable drape includes features that allow the physician to rotate and hold the extremity in any desired position without having to manually hold it in place.
