The present invention refers to an animal model system which mimics the immunosuppressive environment found in cancer, autoimmune and infectious diseases, as well as in chronic inflammation. In said animal model system, which is an object of the present invention, sustained exposure to antigen induces TCR ξ chain downregulation and impaired T cell function. Further objects of the present invention are the method of generating the animal model system, as well as methods of screening for substances that inhibit said ξ chain downregulation. Finally, the present invention provides ξ chain as a marker for the immunological status of a subject in need of immunotherapy.Linvention concerne un système de modèle animal qui reproduit lenvironnement immuosuppresseur propre au cancer, aux maladies auto-immunes et infectieuses, et à linflammation chronique.
