PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition that can apply coating in which a liquefying phenomenon does not happen over time, that does not affect flavor negatively, and in which the coating surface is not sticky, and to provide a food coated by the coating composition.SOLUTION: The coating composition is characterized as follows. The coating composition that includes a starch degradation material, and in which DE value is from 35 to 65, is not dissolved into water and oil, is made to be distributed on a food surface of biscuit, snacks, or the like to be applied with coating, and is performed with heating and melting, then is cooled to be solidified.【課題】 経時的に泣き現象が起こらず、風味に悪影響を与えず、コーティング表面がべたつかないコーティングを施すことができるコーティング用組成物及び該コーティング用組成物によりコーティングされた食品を提供するものである。【解決手段】 澱粉分解物を含み、DE値が35以上65以下のコーティング用組成物を水や油に溶解させることなく、コーティングを施したいビスケットやスナック類等の食品表面に分布せしめ、加熱溶融後、冷却して固化させる。【選択図】なし
