A system for validating an orthopaedic surgical plan includes a data tag (104) associated with a patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument (102) and a data reader (664) to read the data tag to obtain surgical procedure parameters from the data tag. A display module (110) displays the surgical procedure parameters and/or identification data to validate the patient-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument. The system includes a sensor module (108) to generate joint force data indicative of a joint force of a patients joint. The display module is configured to display the joint force data in association with the surgical procedure parameters.
