PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, capable of preventing lateral leakage of an excretion liquid without inhibiting liquid permeability from a surface sheet to an absorber, and restraining return of a liquid from an absorber core to the surface sheet side so that while wearing, sticking to the skin can be restrained.SOLUTION: An absorbent article includes: a surface sheet 1 a back sheet 2 and an absorbing core 3, in which the direction disposed from the abdomen side of a wearer through an excretion part corresponding area to the back side part is a longitudinal direction (Y direction) and the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction is a lateral direction (X direction). A plurality of hydrophobic sheets 7 are disposed between the surface sheet 1 and the absorbing core 3, and in the excretion part corresponding area, the plurality of hydrophobic sheets 7 are disposed at spaces in the lateral direction in areas 33, 33 between a central area 31 in the lateral direction of the absorbing core 3 and side areas 32, 32 on both sides thereof.
