The invention relates to a method for obtaining DNA constructions coding forCry toxins with 3 domains (also knownas Cry toxins, Bt toxins or 5-endotoxins), which lack helix .alpha.-1. SaidDNA constructions were modified in order to encode proteinsthat can kill insects that are resistant to the corresponding non-modified Crytoxins. The invention relates to the DNA constructionsof the genes of modified 3-domain Cry toxins and the modified 3-domain Cryproteins, together with methods, molecular vectorsand host cells containing said constructions, as well as recombinant methodsfor producing the modified 3-domain Cry toxins. Inaddition, the invention relates to formulations containing the modified 3-domain Cry toxins. Resistance of insects to non-modifiedCry toxins is due to a reduced binding of the toxin to the receptors in theinsect's intestine. More specifically, the invention relatesto the expression of the modified 3-domain Cry toxins, the methods forexpressing said modified 3-domain Cry toxins, transformedmicroorganisms and transgenic plants with constructions that express themodified 3-domain Cry toxins and methods for suppressingresistance of pests to non-modified Cry toxins.
